We travelled from the Lake District this morning stopping to visit Rydal Mount (the home of William Wordsworth from 1813 until his dealth in 1850) at Ambleside. It was a lovely setting and as we were there reasonably early we had the place to ourselves for a short while.
We slowly made our way to Carlisle Castle (surprisingly at Carlisle)
We continued on through Scotland until reaching Edinburgh about 6 pm. The countryside is very green with splashes of purple from heather and something that looks very much like lupins.
We have been for a stroll along the beach tonight. We are at Portobello which is quite close to Musselburgh - no excuse for getting lost here!! Tomorrow is sightseeing in Edinburgh itself and we will do our best to remember Jim's instructions on how to get about.
