Stratford to Oxford to Salisbury

Left Stratford Upon Avon and luckily we did not have to go back through the roundabout that we have 3x missed the exit for (coming from different directions). We took the scenic trip to Oxford stopping on the way for a stroll through Chipping Camden

and Lower Slaughter.

Actually our "strolls" took most of the morning but they were both lovely locations so didn't mind a bit. Took lots of photos and would like to have spent some time just browsing through the antique shops but can't afford to accumulate too much stuff at this point as we still have to carry it for another 8 weeks. Posted some surplus items (mostly guide books) back to NZ and that was quite expensive but reduced the luggage limit a bit.

Throughout the morning it was variable degrees of rain but was still warm and the sun broke out in full strength by the time we arrived at Oxford. We used the Park and Ride system again and were glad we didn't have to try and negotiate the city centre or find a free park. Oxford was interesting and full of historic buildings related to the pursuit of knowledge, across a range of areas, so spent the afternoon just looking around. As with a number of places they seemed focused on getting the most from the tourist dollar so we tended to just look at places from the outside as we have been able to see a number of similar type buildings (cathedrals, etc) already.

Arrived in Salisbury about 6 pm and first impressions are that it will be an interesting place to look around tomorrow. Our B&B is absolutely lovely and we are inclined to just settle in for the evening and watch the free DVD's as a "relaxation evening"....but there are still some daylight hours left.....
